Syzl Cancellation Policy
Sometimes plans change. This policy explains what happens when a food maker or a kitchen host cancels an approved booking.
Every listing has a cancellation deadline
Each kitchen listing has its own cancellation policy. The policy sets a free cancellation deadline: a number of days before the booking starts.
By default, the deadline is 48 hours (2 days) before the start time.
Some listings have a different deadline.
Check the listing's Cancellation Policy before you book, so you know your deadline.
How payment works around the deadline
You aren't charged when you send a booking request. Instead:
One to two days before the cancellation deadline, we place a temporary hold on your card for the booking amount.
At the deadline, the payment is taken.
If you book after the listing's deadline has already passed, the payment is taken soon after the host approves your request.

For food makers
Cancelling before the deadline
You can cancel an approved booking without penalty before the listing's deadline. You won't be charged. We place a hold on your card one to two days before the deadline. If you cancel after that, the hold is not collected. It expires on its own within about a week, and your bank may take a few more days to remove it from your statement. See Refunds for timelines.
Please cancel as early as you can and let the host know. That gives them time to offer the slot to someone else.
Cancelling after the deadline
A late cancellation means lost income for the host. If you cancel after the deadline, you pay for the booking and the host is paid their share. By default, that is the full booking amount.
If the kitchen requires insurance
Some kitchens require you to have insurance before you cook. If the listing requires insurance and yours isn't on file and approved by the time we place the card hold (one to two days before the cancellation deadline), the booking is cancelled automatically. Upload your certificate early. If you need coverage, you can get a quote from our Canadian partner Zensurance. See the Insurance FAQ for details.
To cancel step by step, see Cancelling a booking.
For kitchen hosts
Once you approve a booking request, the food maker is counting on your kitchen. If you have to cancel, do it as early as you can and tell the maker why, so they can make other plans.
When a host cancels, the food maker isn't charged for that booking. Any payment already taken is refunded (see Refunds).
Cancelling close to the booking hurts the maker's business and trust in the marketplace. If a host cancels after the listing's cancellation deadline, Syzl may:
suspend or close the host's account
withhold future payouts to cover losses caused by the cancellation, such as the extra cost of finding the maker another kitchen
Long-term and recurring bookings
Long-term and recurring bookings follow the notice terms in your agreement, not the per-booking deadline above.
Fair treatment
Syzl prohibits hosts from making booking decisions or cancelling bookings based on race, colour, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or marital status.
