Syzl Safety Guide
Your safety matters. Whether you're a kitchen host or a food maker, use these tips to keep yourself, your data and your property secure.
Learn about who you'll be working with
Read reviews from other users.
Read the listing details carefully, and tell us about anything that looks suspicious.
Message through your Syzl inbox. It keeps your email address hidden.
Food makers verify their identity before they can book, and a host's listings can't be booked until the host has verified theirs. See How do you verify food makers and kitchen hosts?
Protect your finances
Make every payment through Syzl's secure payments. We can't guarantee payments made outside the platform.
Keep your financial information private. That includes your SIN (in Canada), SSN (in the US) or other tax ID, date of birth, credit card and bank account details, and government-issued ID.
Be careful what you share
Think twice before sharing personal details such as your personal email or home address. Use Syzl messages as much as you can. If you need to talk by phone, use Private Calling so your number stays hidden.
Prepare for an emergency
Avoid anything that impairs your judgment while you work.
Let co-workers or friends know where you'll be working, or that a food maker is coming into your space.
Lock up valuable equipment and cash boxes, and consider security cameras around important areas.
Before you start cooking, find the fire extinguishers, hand-wash stations and other safety equipment.
In an emergency, get to a safe place and call 9-1-1.
Report violations
Help keep our community safe by reporting anyone who breaks our Terms and Conditions. For example:
a host who asks you to pay outside Syzl's payments
a user who sends harassing or offensive messages
a user who behaves inappropriately online or in a kitchen
a fake profile or listing
a user or space that creates a safety risk in any other way
To report a conversation, open it, tap the menu (⋮) at the top and choose Report. You can also email help@syzl.io or use the support page in the app.
