Identity Verification for Hosts and Makers

Safety and transparency matter to everyone who uses Syzl. Whether you're a food maker, a kitchen host or both, you need to complete an identity verification.

How it works

Identity verification is done in the app through Stripe Identity, a third-party verification service. You'll need a valid government-issued photo ID, and you follow the on-screen steps. It can take several minutes to complete.

For step-by-step instructions, see ID verification.

For kitchen hosts

You can set up your listing before you're verified, but makers can't book it until you are. Until then, your listing shows "Book soon" instead of available times, and your profile shows a reminder to complete verification.

Every food maker who books your kitchen has also verified their identity. Makers can't send a booking request without it.

For food makers

You need to complete identity verification before you can send your first booking request.

Does Syzl check criminal history?

No. We do not run background checks, and hosts can't require them through Syzl. Identity verification confirms that each person is who they say they are.

If you have specific requirements for who can use your space, explain them in your listing and talk them through with makers using in-app messaging. See the Syzl safety guide for more tips.

If your verification doesn't go through

If your verification isn't successful, email us at help@syzl.io or contact us from the support page in the app, and we'll review it with you.
