Cost of Using Syzl - Host
Syzl's mission is to give food makers affordable access to certified kitchens, and to help hosts earn extra income from kitchen time they aren't using. That covers everything from restaurant kitchens to large commercial facilities.
Listing is free
Signing up and listing your kitchen on Syzl costs nothing. You only pay a fee when you get a booking.
You set your rates
Hourly rates vary by kitchen, and you have the final say on what you charge. Set rates that suit your business and reflect what your kitchen offers. You can charge different rates at different times. See How to adjust kitchen availability and rates.
Not sure where to start? Email help@syzl.io or visit the support page in the app and we'll help you price your space.
The host fee
A host fee, typically 16%, applies to each booking. It's calculated on the booking amount before tax. When you set your rate, the app shows the fee and what you take home. Your booking receipts show the amount paid to you after the fee, next to what the maker paid.
The fee covers:
Payment processing
Identity verification
Checking makers' documents, such as food-safety certificates and insurance (makers can get a quote from our insurance partner Zensurance)
Customer support
Marketing your kitchen to local food makers
Sales tax
Sales tax is shown on the food maker's receipt. In Canada, it's calculated on the booking total. If you're registered to collect sales tax, for example with a GST/HST number, add your registration so the tax on your share of each booking is passed on to you. Go to Me > Wallet > Tax Registration.
For US kitchens, we'll share US tax details before US bookings open. See Payouts for US hosts.
Getting paid
Your earnings are paid out through Stripe. See Getting paid.
